Head Coach Shane Bouman

Shane is the Head Softball Coach at Northwestern College and has 15 years of Division I coaching as both an assistant and head coach. Following an impressive career as a collegiate quarterback at South Dakota State, Shane spent numerous years as one of the most decorated men’s fastpitch pitcher’s, competing all over the world. He was a four time Men’s Fastpitch All-American and a five time National Champion with three Top-5 ISC World Softball Tourney finishes.

He began his coaching career at his alma mater, South Dakota State, where he collected most wins in program history while breaking 24 school records. He continued as an Assistant at The University of Iowa, serving primarily as the Hawkeyes pitching coach. Under Bouman’s guidance, the pitching staff ranked top 10 in the country including ERA, strikeouts and wins. The Hawkeyes set six pitching records under Bouman’s guidance and earned two NCAA Tournament at- large bids in his three years, while also gaining eight Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors, two All-Region Pitcher honors and a 1st team All-American.
Bouman while at Indiana State University had a lengthy list of accomplishments. The program broke 40 school records in five seasons including the first winning season in 22 years. In 2015, the Sycamores garnered many firsts such as a Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship, an automatic NCAA Tournament bid, and NCAA Tournament victory all while compiling the 2015 MVC Player of the Year and MVC Tournament MVP. Bouman coached ten All- MVC Players and two All-Region selections while leading the Sycamores.
